Reasons Why Men Should Avoid Non-Incisional Ptosis Correction and Potential Side Effects

Learn why non-incisional ptosis correction may not be suitable for men with thick skin, severe ptosis, or excess fat, and who makes an ideal candidate.

Reasons Why Men Should Avoid Non-Incisional Ptosis Correction and Potential Side Effects

Generally, most male patients visiting our clinic undergo incisional ptosis correction, while only a small portion undergo the non-incisional method.

Men who are not suitable candidates for non-incisional ptosis correction include those listed below. Please consider if any of these apply to you before making a decision.

1. Individuals with thick skin

Male skin is significantly thicker than female skin. Consequently, non-incisional methods are prone to loosening. From a surgeon’s perspective, we must recommend the method that is most durable and long-lasting.

2. Individuals with poor eyelid-opening function.

For those whose eyes appear severely sleepy, the non-incisional method is largely ineffective. Furthermore, if you attempt to pull the muscle too forcefully in such cases, it can cause severe tension symptoms without achieving proper correction. In particular, severe tension symptoms can lead to insomnia.

3. Individuals undergoing revision surgery.

Revision surgery must be performed using the incisional method. If done incorrectly, it can result in ‘triple folds,’ failure of correction, and a waste of both time and money.

4. Individuals with excess fat

Fat removal is necessary in these cases, which makes the buried suture (non-incisional) method difficult to perform effectively.

5. Individuals with naturally existing double eyelids

It is difficult to tuck the line inward to create a hidden fold without first releasing the existing double eyelid. This can result in triple folds rather than a clean double eyelid.

6. Individuals with sagging skin (especially older patients)

Then, who are the ideal candidates for non-incisional ptosis correction?

1. Individuals with thin skin

2. Individuals with good eyelid-opening strength and no skin sagging.
