Was it around the early 2000s? I believe it was an MBC Best Theater episode. It is a story about a marriage between a young woman from Yanbian and a bachelor from a rural village.

Kim Gook-jin, playing the rural bachelor Jeong-ho, meets Heo Young-ran in Yanbian. Heo Young-ran played the role of Hong-mae, a young woman from Yanbian.
Because Hong-mae’s family was poor, she came to Korea to get married and needed to send about 100,000 won back to China whenever possible.
Just as Jeong-ho is about to get married, an old classmate suddenly appears and expresses interest in him. He abandons Hong-mae to marry the classmate, only to find out it was a scam... -_-;;

The story follows him as he goes out to find Hong-mae again.

Meanwhile, Seon-ah, whom Jeong-ho had loved for a long time, suddenly appears and expresses her desire to marry him. Jeong-ho loses his heart for the marriage with Hong-mae. He tries to tell the newly arrived Hong-mae that he no longer wishes to marry her but cannot bring himself to say it. When a hesitant Hong-mae asks him to send 100,000 won home every month after they marry, Jeong-ho gets angry, accusing her of coming for money rather than love, and leaves her.
Later, while drinking with friends, Jeong-ho hears that Seon-ah recently committed fraud and disappeared. He heads to Seoul to find her, only to confirm that he was indeed scammed. A few days later, a package from Hong-mae arrives for the despondent Jeong-ho. Hong-mae leaves a message saying she truly loved him and tried her best to live a good life, ending with a final thank you...
