Case Studies of 3 Patients: Double-Line Fold Lowering (Suture Removal and Same-Day Surgery)

A collection of case studies from July 27, 2020, featuring patients undergoing double-line fold lowering to correct high or out-fold double eyelids.

Case Studies of 3 Patients: Double-Line Fold Lowering (Suture Removal and Same-Day Surgery)

Photo compilation of patients who had sutures removed today after double-line fold lowering (July 27, 2020).

All patients have provided consent for photo usage.

Pre-operative photo. This patient previously had an ‘out-fold’ double eyelid and wished to change it to an ‘in-out’ style. In the before-and-after comparison, the left is pre-op and the right is post-op.

The arrow above indicates where the previous scar has been cleanly eliminated. The incision line directly below shows the appearance immediately after suture removal.

Example of another patient:

While lowering the line on the right eye, there was a slight ‘sleepy’ appearance near the bridge of the nose, so a minor ptosis correction was performed.

This refers to the area marked on the patient’s right eye.

‘Double-line fold lowering’ (Dujul-ttagi) is not a formal medical term. It is a colloquialism; the official name is ‘Double eyelid size reduction without scar excision.’ This procedure is performed on individuals with insufficient eyelid skin.

Another patient case study:

Bruising occurred as the photo was taken immediately after the surgery.

Ultimately, ‘out-fold’ double eyelids often do not suit Korean patients well. Most of these procedures involve converting an ‘out-fold’ to an ‘in-out’ fold after the line was initially set too high.

For those who had surgery today, there is bruising and swelling, which makes the eyelashes look upturned and the lines still appear high, but they will settle and lower quickly.

I will post follow-up photos of these patients again in the future.

All cases recorded today, July 27, 2020.
