When is the best time for early double eyelid revision? (feat. Early lateral canthoplasty revision, early lower canthoplasty revision)
When is the best time for early double eyelid revision? This is a question many people ask, and it is a topic I have presented on at academic conferences.
The timing for early double eyelid revision is generally best within 1 month (approximately within 30 days) at the latest, and in most cases, performing it within 2 weeks is considered the most ideal.

Furthermore, early revision of ptosis correction is the most common. This is because the surgeon must use the existing incision line. If a new incision is made, there is a risk that the skin between the current incision and the new one could lose blood supply and undergo necrosis.

This patient visited us after having surgery at another clinic. They came in complaining that their lateral and lower canthoplasty was overdone and that they had difficulty opening their eyes.
Normally, double eyelid revision might not be possible so soon, but because the patient was experiencing severe redness, discomfort, and difficulty opening their eyes, they requested improvement in these areas.

This is the appearance after the stitches were removed. Much of the bruising has subsided, and the pupils are well-symmetrized.
The excessively lowered lower canthoplasty was also successfully restored. There are not many cases where lower canthoplasty is truly necessary, and I was concerned that the initial surgical choice might have been too aggressive.

I am glad the surgery went well.
However, please note that fine adjustments to the double eyelid fold can only be corrected after 6 months. This is because such adjustments often involve slightly different incision lines.
