Correcting the Facts Regarding Malicious Reviews of Eyelid Retraction Surgery

A surgeon clarifies the truth behind a patient's malicious review, detailing the history of multiple surgeries, patient demands, and the actual clinical outcomes.

Correcting the Facts Regarding Malicious Reviews of Eyelid Retraction Surgery

This is... truly devastating.

I am the type of surgeon who tries to accommodate a patient’s requests as much as possible, so it feels heartbreaking to have it come back to me like this.

This is the pre-operative appearance when the patient first visited our clinic. The patient’s right eye is excessively open.

I will upload the video later.

The patient had undergone several surgeries in the provinces and was told that surgery was no longer possible there, which is why they came to me.

However, throughout the process, the patient could not wait even if there was slight asymmetry. They repeatedly demanded early corrections, insisting they would take full responsibility. Despite my explanations regarding the risks and obtaining a signed consent form, the patient insisted on proceeding with the surgeries.

Even when a reasonable degree of symmetry was achieved, they continued to make demands, which was distressing for me as well.

This is the photo from the last surgery when the stitches were removed after one week. This is the final record I have. The pupils are aligned, and it seems to have turned out reasonably well. (November 2024)

However, I am told the patient went to another hospital and had another surgery this year, in 2025. Apparently, that did not go well, and now they are asking me to perform surgery again.

I cannot understand why I should be held responsible for what went wrong at another hospital or why they are demanding compensation. Is this how you speak to someone who accommodated your repeated requests for surgery for your own sake until now?

When your condition was poor, you should have known when to stop. To keep demanding things from us and then act this way later—does that make any sense?

Furthermore, I advised waiting until the scar stabilized, but the patient claimed they could not endure it and threatened my manager, saying they would post online if I didn’t see them immediately.

You are free to post, but I ask that you do not post false information.

Please refrain from spreading falsehoods.

Please compare whether the pre-operative photo I have is the same as the one the patient claims is the pre-operative photo. Please refer to the cafe post for the photos. - Content added: The patient has been adding text and changing photos in the middle of their post...

Everything is recorded in the charts, and I have data for every situation at that time. I even have the contents of the consent form that the patient personally added to.

I explained that functional aspects could not be guaranteed, and yet... sigh.

I did my best to accommodate them even after they had surgeries elsewhere, and now that I’ve stopped giving in, this is the result.

Do you know how many times they had surgery at our clinic? It wasn’t because I suggested it; I told them it wasn’t necessary and that they needed to wait, but they kept insisting.

During the process, I listened to them a lot. We talked about their profession, where they lived—I listened to everything while performing the surgeries. Must I always cater to a patient’s every whim? Are you disregarding my medical judgment?

If you believe it is a lie that the patient repeatedly requested unnecessary surgeries, please seek treatment from another doctor. This is exhausting for me as well.

Writing this as many people have been asking. Added Oct 29, 2025, 5:54 PM

No surgeries other than the retraction surgery were performed at our clinic. Other surgeries were done at different hospitals.

Even currently, the most recent surgery was performed at another hospital.

Now there are even posts elsewhere containing false information.

I have not performed surgery three months ago, and no one has paid that specific amount for surgery. The patient in the photo above says it is not them~

However, the person who wrote that post seems unaware of how serious a crime this is.

Thank you to those who have supported me.

I say this again: if you think I am lying or if you find me untrustworthy, please skip our clinic and receive treatment at another hospital.

Revision surgery is this difficult. I have seen many times how, while treating each patient, they are appreciative at first when I accommodate them, but eventually start demanding excessive things, and then turn on me the moment I say that something is no longer possible.

If I had actually made a mistake or if there was a problem on my part, I would have processed it through insurance.

Since I signed up for medical malpractice insurance in 2011, I have never had to process a claim. My medical accident record is still zero. (As of January 20, 2026)

What about the handwritten signature stating they would take full responsibility? I clearly warned them that surgery should not be done at that time.

Furthermore, the final photo from our clinic shows that the symmetry looks good. Without coming in for follow-ups, they suddenly demanded a refund and revision surgery after getting operated on at another hospital. Our clinic advised that it would be better to operate after the scar tissue had stabilized.

Please do not demand money after having surgery at another hospital. It is a shame, because if they had waited and had surgery at the appropriate time, they would have achieved a good result.

I wonder what ordinary people would think about someone who continues to demand revision surgery even when symmetry has been achieved...

This is the KakaoTalk photo located right below the progress photo the patient sent via KakaoTalk.

During the surgery, the patient screamed so loudly that I couldn’t help but sigh...

It was to the point where other patients in the waiting room might have misunderstood what was happening.

Still, since the patient said they felt offended, I even apologized via KakaoTalk.

If you count the number of surgeries they’ve had, including those at other clinics, it’s countless—more than 10 times. How can the tissue survive that? They would need to wait at least 2 to 3 years.

And yet, they suddenly demand a refund. Do you really think such a demand is justified?

The patient claims they paid 7 million won for the surgery, but they made three bank transfers of 2 million won each, and they received a cash receipt for 6 million won.

I do not know their intention behind inflating the amount.
