Hello, today’s post is about lateral canthoplasty reconstruction.

As shown here, when one tries to enlarge the eyes too much through lateral canthoplasty, the red mucosa can become excessively exposed.

While this might make the eyes look larger, it often results in an unnatural appearance.

This is the pre-operative appearance.

The patient’s left eye (right side of the photo) shows ectropion, and the patient’s right eye (left side of the photo) shows exposed red mucosa.

The surgery involves cleanly removing the scar tissue, repositioning the separated lateral canthal ligament back to its original location, and then suturing it neatly.

It sounds simple, but it is a difficult procedure to perform without extensive experience.

This is the post-operative appearance. The mucosal coverage has improved significantly, and the results are excellent.

I am pleased that the surgery turned out so well.
