Undoing Double Eyelids: Removing Buried Sutures (Clear Suture Removal)

A detailed look at the delicate process of removing clear sutures from a buried double eyelid surgery through minimal incisions to restore the natural eye shape.

Undoing Double Eyelids: Removing Buried Sutures (Clear Suture Removal)

I would like to post about undoing double eyelids and the removal of sutures from buried double eyelid surgery (clear suture removal).

First of all, it is not an easy task to remove buried sutures through a tiny hole.

Furthermore, it is even more challenging when the sutures are clear. The procedure involves making small holes in two locations to facilitate removal.

These are small holes of approximately 2mm, which are about the same size as those made during the initial buried suture method surgery.

Small holes are made on both sides. Looking at the arrows above, the middle arrow is simply to check for traces, while the holes on both sides are actually used. These are smaller than the holes made at the clinic where the patient previously received their buried suture surgery.

Can you see it? There is a suture hanging at the very end; because it is a clear suture, it may appear white.

To the naked eye, it is difficult to distinguish whether it is a regular suture, muscle, or a nerve.

When placed on gauze, the suture is so transparent that it is hard to capture in a photo, so this was the only way to photograph it.

This shows the clear sutures being held on the opposite side as well. In this manner, they are completely removed.

While stitching is not strictly necessary, a single point is sutured to minimize even the 2mm scar.
