Heartbreaking Double Eyelid Surgery Failures and Side Effects

A look at double eyelid surgery side effects and failed cases, including early revision options for thick creases and ptosis.

Heartbreaking Double Eyelid Surgery Failures and Side Effects

Occasionally, while browsing through blogs, I come across reviews of failed double eyelid surgeries or stories about side effects.

While some are genuine cases of surgical failure or side effects, there are times when the issue is simply due to lingering swelling.

The following is a case referred to us after a procedure at another clinic.

The double eyelid crease is too thick and the eyes look sleepy.. even though it has been a month since surgery..

The patient above underwent early revision, and the photo above shows the results 6 months after the corrective procedure.

Typically, revision surgery is performed at least 6 months after the initial operation.

However, early revision is considered when it is deemed impossible for the patient to maintain a normal social life, or when early correction is expected to yield better results than waiting.

This is another case where the patient had thick creases and significantly everted eyelashes after surgery at another clinic. We performed revision surgery just one month after their initial procedure.

Of course, waiting 6 months post-surgery is generally the best approach.

This photo shows the 10th day after revision surgery for a patient whose initial surgery was performed a long time ago. A posterior canthoplasty (under-eye lowering) was performed simultaneously.

You can view the results in the video below.
