Correcting Uneven Eyes in Men with Monolid Ptosis Correction Surgery

Learn how to correct asymmetrical eyes in men using monolid ptosis correction. This guide covers surgical techniques for achieving natural, balanced results.

In this post, we will discuss the following topic:

When eyes are asymmetrical, having one eye appear half-closed or sleepy can sometimes lead to misunderstandings when looking at others.

Unintentionally staring at someone with such eyes can cause... awkward situations.

Wouldn’t it be better to gaze with beautiful, clear eyes like the celebrity shown below?

In the case of the patient above, since one side looks significantly sleepier, ptosis correction is performed on that side.

However, it is not possible to operate on only one side. This is because various variables, such as Hering’s Law, can occur.

Therefore, the procedure is performed on both sides.

In cases like the patient above, who lifts their left eyebrow to compensate, the eyebrow will naturally lower after the surgery.

This shows the patient before surgery and one week after surgery (at the time of suture removal).

At the 6-month mark, the swelling has completely subsided, the eyebrows are no longer being used to open the eyes, and the symmetry is well-balanced.

The example shown above is a case where ptosis on one side was corrected using ptosis correction surgery.

Let me show you another case.

In this person’s pre-operative state, the right eye is larger and the left eye is smaller. However, unlike the previous case, the eyebrow on the side with the larger eye is positioned higher.

This type of case falls under facial asymmetry. Overall, the skeletal structure on the right side is larger.

In such instances, adjustments are made by performing more significant ptosis correction on the left eye while varying the degree of skin excision.

This is the appearance after suture removal. Although some bruising remains, the symmetry is nearly perfect and the size of both eyes is similar. However, it is important to note that the physical position of the eyebrows cannot be changed.

At one month, most of the swelling has subsided and the symmetry is well-aligned.

If you look at the line drawn across the image, you can see that the lower eyelid on the right side is also positioned higher.

Unfortunately, correcting such asymmetry is very difficult (nearly impossible) using non-incisional methods; it must be done through an incisional approach.

However, even with the incisional method, swelling and scarring are not severe, so it is recommended to consult with a specialist.
