Eyelid Eversion, Lower Blepharoplasty Ectropion, and Side Effects of Under-Eye Fat Surgery
Learn about the causes and correction methods for lower eyelid ectropion, a common side effect of under-eye fat and blepharoplasty surgery.

Today, I would like to post about ‘lower eyelid ectropion’.
This is generally considered a severe case among ‘lower blepharoplasty side effects’.
It is a ‘side effect’ that can occur during ‘under-eye fat surgery’.
Patients often complain of ‘eyelid eversion’ symptoms.

This occurs when the eyelid is pulled downward due to scarring or when an excessive amount of skin is excised.
There are several ways to correct this. It is essential to properly release the underlying scar tissue while ensuring the lateral canthus is securely fixed.
Since recurrence is common, it is crucial to receive treatment from an experienced surgeon.

In some cases, dermis is harvested from near the buttocks or groin and inserted into the scarred area, or a hole is drilled into the lateral orbital bone for fixation.

Generally, if the final result is maintained after 6 months, the surgery is considered successful.
The operation time usually takes around one hour.
