When performing hump nose surgery, we are faced with two main choices.
Should we use an implant, or should we proceed without one?
First, let’s look at what a hump nose actually is.
As shown in the image above, it is called a ‘hump nose’ because the bridge protrudes, resembling the beak of a hawk.
This is how it typically appears.
The surgical plan is as shown above. It involves either shaving down the slight hump or using the remaining tissue while raising the nasal tip to create the desired shape.

Septal cartilage is most commonly used, and if it is insufficient, ear cartilage from the right side may also be utilized.
The reason septal cartilage is often preferred is that it eliminates the need to harvest ear cartilage, meaning no additional scarring on the ear. Furthermore, using the nose’s own cartilage often feels more convenient when shaping the nose.
However, ear cartilage is also an excellent material, and I use it frequently as well.
The final results are largely similar, so there is no need for concern! ^^
