A recap of a live surgery demonstration at Severance Hospital featuring incisional ptosis correction and epicanthoplasty for mild ptosis.
I was invited by Severance Hospital to perform a live surgery session on #IncisionalPtosisCorrection and #Epicanthoplasty.
The surgery proceeded as follows. Four invited speakers performed surgeries simultaneously while providing brief lectures to plastic surgery specialists, exchanging opinions, and answering questions.
The topic was ‘Incisional blepharoplasty for mild ptosis’. Please note the arrow.
Incisional blepharoplasty refers to #IncisionalDoubleEyelidSurgery, and mild ptosis refers to a slight case of #Ptosis (droopy eyelids).
In fact, mild cases of #Ptosis are not covered by insurance; medical insurance typically only covers severe ptosis. What we commonly refer to as #PtosisCorrection (eye shape correction) is performed for these mild cases.

The process of designing the surgery with the patient is broadcast live via a camera from behind.
It is the same as a regular surgery. After the design, the patient confirms the shape in a mirror before proceeding with the operation.
Hospital professors are present in the back to observe the surgery.
Usually, the surgery takes about 30 minutes to an hour.
While the average surgery time is 40 to 50 minutes, it took about an hour this time because I had to lecture while operating.

Can mild ptosis receive medical insurance benefits?
No, you cannot receive insurance benefits. Insurance only applies to pathological severe ptosis; mild ptosis is considered an aesthetic eye correction surgery for cosmetic purposes and is therefore not covered by insurance.

It usually takes about 30 minutes to 1 hour. On average, it takes about 40-50 minutes, but if it's a live surgery demonstration with lectures and questions, it may take about 1 hour.
Can I check the double eyelid shape before surgery?
Yes, you can check it in advance using a mirror before surgery. Before starting the surgery, we design it with the patient, and the actual surgery begins after the patient confirms the shape in the mirror and agrees to it.
When do I check for swelling after ptosis correction surgery?
Swelling after surgery is checked on day 1, week 1, and month 1. The text explains that the recovery status is checked by observing the changes in swelling at each of these periods.
