Gangnam Seoyeon Side Effects? (feat. I'm devastated that my goodwill turned into poison) Please judge objectively
A former patient, once a fan, is now posting malicious content online, claiming side effects and demanding staff changes. Despite our efforts to resolve misunderstandings and offer continued care, the patient's behavior has escalated to defamation and harassment, making further treatment impossible.

I am devastated; I never imagined that my goodwill would turn into poison.
There is a former fan(?) of our hospital who is now posting malicious content online, telling people to sue us. This person used to leave many positive reviews about our hospital, and their surgery was successful, so their before-and-after photos are even featured in our hospital's gallery.

The photos are also on my blog.

At the very end, you can see posts where they boasted online that their surgery turned out exactly as they wanted. For that, I am truly grateful.

My staff initially sent me these messages, teasing me. I'm not even handsome, but they called me handsome and tall, so I was embarrassed but grateful at first.

Initially, they wrote many positive comments like these, so I was naturally grateful and performed procedures with utmost care. When new treatment machines came out, I judged them to be good and introduced them to provide even better procedures. We introduced the machine because it was the most frequently received procedure by that person.

They themselves were satisfied with the surgery.

However, this year (around July 2025), the patient claimed they received unfair treatment from our staff, that they were 'kicked out' of the hospital, and expressed dissatisfaction with our staff, requesting a replacement.

The left side shows the patient's request, and the green text is what I wrote.

It got to the point where I even checked the hospital's CCTV to see how the staff were behaving.
However, I couldn't find any issues, and I even assigned a dedicated staff member to them. Since they were a VIP patient, I contacted them directly.
Up until then, it seemed we had resolved misunderstandings and things were good.
But from then on, they started sending messages like this to the staff.

The white window is the patient, and the yellow window is the manager.
They threatened to spread false information about the staff, including the hospital's name.
Still, I understood they were angry because of our staff, but I asked them to calm down and not misunderstand.
They claimed to have received unfair treatment from a staff member, but I found no evidence of it. When I said I would educate the staff well, the patient instead accused me of taking the staff's side, and things escalated even more from that point.
Nevertheless, as they were my patient and I had performed their surgery, I continued to provide care.

As the patient mentioned, they continued to receive eye surgery, nose surgery, and other minor procedures at our hospital.
However, they jokingly called me a 'bad guy'(?) or 'Nanami'(?) and requested additional phone calls outside of hospital consultations (refer to the latter part).
I personally contacted them through the hospital phone to clear up their misunderstandings, but they claimed I contacted them to manage negative patient reviews. Occasionally, once or twice a year, when it's difficult to convey messages through the manager, I contact patients directly. For example, if a patient is far away (e.g., Jeju Island) and a stitch pops out, making it impossible for them to visit, I might ask another doctor for help (note that a popped stitch is not an issue: https://blog.naver.com/medicdoctor/224087703647).

The KakaoTalk conversation above is with another patient. I sometimes contact other hospitals directly to ask for stitch removal, etc.
Naturally, since they were writing false and distorted information online, I had to clarify. As they had positive feelings about our hospital before, I stepped in to speak to them directly.
However, I don't think I will ever personally contact any patient again.
I've realized that if you always show consideration with good intentions, some people might take advantage of it or have other motives.

I said I would allocate consultation time, but are you asking for a private call?? Why??
What did I 'propose'?

I will not have private calls with patients. If you have any business, please visit the hospital.
Since then, they have claimed that all their eye, nose, and minor procedures were ruined. They deleted all their previous successful reviews. Deleting or not deleting is fine, and it's their freedom to post reviews, whether successful or not, but I don't think posting false information is acceptable. Of course, surgery can go well or not, but then they should request A/S from the hospital; I never said I wouldn't do it. They claim their nose became longer, but that's what they originally wanted (https://blog.naver.com/medicdoctor/224081265392).
This doesn't seem like normal behavior. And what does it mean to call the director by a nickname they want, 'Nanami'?
I might be a friendly doctor to a patient, but nothing more. Still, I tried my best to accommodate them.

The gray window is the patient, and the green window is the director.

Wow... Being a plastic surgeon is an extreme job. Do I have to accept the nicknames patients give me?
From my perspective, my goal was to somehow appease them and resolve the situation amicably, so I decided to just let it be.
This conversation took place regarding the posts they uploaded on Threads...

I have never ignored them.

As I wrote in another blog, it is possible for scar tissue to emerge. Also, I provided good follow-up care, and as they themselves stated, they were not rejected for canthoplasty revision but because they were looking into lower blepharoplasty.
And in my opinion, they don't need lower blepharoplasty yet.
As you know, I am a key doctor for lower eyelid fat repositioning surgery.

I also told them that if they were dissatisfied, I would make it right.
Instead, they are using an app called 'Soomgo' to imply they will harass me with posts.

Is that why they searched... or were they looking for part-timers?

If they didn't like our staff, they called them 'snake-like' and 'psychopaths,' and now I've become a psychopath too. Please evaluate objectively. It's instantaneous to become a psychopath by writing such things about someone.

If a consultation appointment was rejected at another hospital, would that really be my fault? And it wasn't a rejection for revision surgery, but for lower blepharoplasty.
Consultations are usually possible, aren't they? Why the rejection?
And from my objective point of view, they don't really need lower blepharoplasty...

What exactly does the patient want to say? That it's 'ruined' and I'm the 'worst doctor ever'?
The relationship between a doctor and a patient must be built on trust.
If trust cannot be established through such posts on the internet, then treatment will be impossible.
Currently,
If you have seen these posts,
I hope only those who can trust me will visit our hospital.
If my surgery was truly botched, would I write an explanation on the hospital's main page?
Let's say the surgery was truly botched. I can even process it through insurance.
Initially, I didn't feel the need to respond. Since they had been a long-time patient at our hospital, and I thought we could continue as good patient and good doctor, I just observed.
Now, it seems to have crossed the line. Should my family, my child, see these posts and hear their father called a psychopath?
However, since I joined the insurance in 2011, I have never processed an insurance claim. As of November 30, 2025, medical accidents are zero.
It's gotten to the point where, after joining the insurance, my premiums are discounted every year, and I pay the lowest rate!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
To summarize:
Initially, they were satisfied with our hospital's surgery, promoted us, and as a loyal customer, received good procedures. However, they suddenly raised issues with our staff's attitude, demanding several years' worth of CCTV footage because they disliked a staff member's words and actions. In conversations where we promised apologies and prevention of recurrence, they used one-sided and continuous informal language, unexpected nicknames, demanded separate phone calls at night outside of hospital hours, and when we tried to contact them during business hours through the manager, they suddenly claimed all procedure results were unsatisfactory, wrote posts online, and even wrote false information saying the hospital wouldn't address their discomfort, despite our offers to help. Plus, they suddenly claimed dissatisfaction with the surgery results and asked me to perform the same surgery on my wife and report the results. These series of situations are simply not logical or reasonable in my understanding.

I continuously tried my best.
I even offered to connect them with another hospital if they didn't want to be treated by me.
I don't want to be hurt anymore. It's because of the good memories we once shared. Why do you keep provoking me by telling me to sue?
Do you really want a lawsuit and a messy fight? Don't you know this is a real crime?
In between, I constantly pleaded and asked them to calm down, and with great difficulty, I asked them to take down malicious comments related to false information and defamation. Many things happened.
Writing this post is not to belittle the other person but a minimal defense against malicious comments. It is not true.

------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Added December 1st.

Hello. I hope you are doing well.
I have seen the various posts you recently uploaded, and I have read all the negative content written about me. My heart was heavy after seeing those posts. I tried to understand, thinking how difficult it must have been for you to do so.
However, I am telling you this because if defamatory or repeatedly negative posts that are untrue continue, it will only leave scars on both of us. You previously mentioned suing, and I want to ask again if that is truly the direction you wish to take. If the harassment continues, I will have no choice but to consider legal action, but I do not wish to go in a direction that will lead to unnecessary emotional exhaustion, police attendance, statements, and other cumbersome procedures for both of us.
I sincerely ask you to refrain from further criticism, including existing posts.
If possible, it might be good to receive treatment at our hospital again that can satisfy you. You said you were upset by the staff or the hospital, but I hope you also understand that I am equally hurt. I believe you would empathize with this feeling if you were in a position of running a business.
And I would like to add one more thing. I directly contacted you using my hospital phone number, hoping that patients would communicate without discomfort, but misunderstandings arose because you did not perceive it that way. Therefore, I have decided not to contact any patients in the same manner in the future. It was unexpected for me that my efforts to do better were conveyed in a negative way.
Now, rather than deepening each other's emotional wounds, I hope we can conclude this here and move on peacefully.
I also wish for an amicable resolution through dialogue, and I hope that feeling is conveyed.
Thank you.
I sent another sincere message trying to persuade them, but only illogical content came back.
Your septum collapsed? Then file a formal medical lawsuit. Or, if I made a mistake, I'll even process it through insurance. I'll take responsibility.
It must be because that's not the case that you're harassing me.
I tried my best to accommodate them.
I accepted the nickname the patient gave me, humored them, tried to calm them down to this extent, accepted everything at the time, and even had long phone conversations because they kept saying I wasn't providing follow-up care. I can't do it anymore. Please come to the hospital officially.
I deleted some parts of the comment yesterday because it got too long and messy, but I'll paste it here.

Yes, please see the text above.
I will upload the evidence of the replacement request.

I accommodated everything to this extent. What crime did our staff commit? Isn't it workplace discrimination to tell someone not to come in just because a patient wants it?
I've done enough.
At times like this, wisdom is needed.
Frequently Asked Questions
How are side effects handled after surgery at Gangnam Seoyeon?
Insurance processing and AS (re-treatment) are available. The director has maintained a zero medical accident record since joining medical insurance in 2011 and has stated that in the event of an actual problem, insurance processing and responsible follow-up measures are guaranteed.
Does everyone need to undergo lower eyelid fat repositioning surgery?
No, it is not a necessary surgery for everyone. According to the text, the director objectively examined the patient and determined that lower eyelid fat surgery was not needed, emphasizing that accurate diagnosis takes precedence over unnecessary surgery.
Can scar tissue protrude after double eyelid surgery?
Yes, this can actually happen. The director explains that while stitches can sometimes protrude through the scar, it is not medically problematic and can be managed with observation and appropriate follow-up treatment.
What should I do if I am dissatisfied with the results after surgery?
It is best to visit the hospital first and formally request AS. The director states that they will re-examine any unsatisfactory issues and advises that direct consultation by visiting the hospital is a more reasonable solution than online defamation.
Is it possible to have a personal phone consultation with the director of Gangnam Seoyeon?
No, personal phone consultations will not be conducted in the future. The director previously contacted patients directly for their convenience, but due to a misunderstanding, a policy has been set to conduct only in-hospital consultations for all patients.
Is a nose appearing longer after nose surgery a side effect?
It is difficult to uniformly classify it as a side effect, as it may be the result the patient originally desired. According to the text, in this particular case, the surgery was performed according to the patient's initial desired shape, and the fact that the patient wrote a satisfied review is recorded on the blog.
